FAQ’s

The Fort Lauderdale Beach Hub at Las Olas & A1A serves as the heart of the Fort Lauderdale Beach ‘island’ and is located 1.3 miles from 17th St. Causeway to the south, 1.4 miles from Sunrise Boulevard to the north, and at the end of it prestigious gateway – Las Olas Boulevard.
For driving directions from points North or South, and alternate transportations options, visit the official Fort Lauderdale Beach destination guide, www.MyFortLauderdaleBeach.com
As we like to say – bring your beach chairs, bring your friends – which also extends to beach blankets, family and co-workers! Your well behaved four-legged family members are welcome along the promenade, but not in the sand.
Coolers containing Food and Drinks are welcome, however alcoholic beverages and glass bottles are prohibited by law.
New this year - we will have water available for purchase for $1.00 a bottle, and on select nights, area restaurants will offer food and beverages you may purchase on-site. There are also a number of Restaurants and Convenience Stores across the street and within walking distance to grab a bite or take out and bring back.
We ask you please be respectful of our beaches and dispose of trash in provided recycle and garbage receptacles.
For a complete list of Beach Rules and Regulations, please visit the City of Fort Lauderdale’s website
There are a number of public parking lots and garages located a few blocks from the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hub, which offer meter, pay-by-phone or flat rate options. Visit MyFortLauderdaleBeach.com to view the most up to date parking information and rates.
If parking at the garage, and you don't want to walk the one and a half blocks with your gear, text 954-603-4500 and The Free Ride can pick you up and drive you over. The ride is free for up to 5 people; tips for your driver are appreciated.
You may also wish to go carless - convenient Water Taxi stops are located behind Beachplace and Bahia Mar. Save on fares by purchasing a Happy Hour ticket [$18 from 5pm on] and double down by presenting it to participating Cruise & Save businesses for discounts.
Bike racks are also conveniently located in the new parking garage and along A1A to park your own, or rent one from a B-Cycle location and park at the closest dock.
We strongly encourage guests to bring a beach chair or blanket to ensure seating, however in addition to Fort Lauderdale's iconic Wave Wall providing a natural bench, organizers have a limited number of beach mats to borrow and 30 camping-style chairs to rent for $5.00 with a $10 deposit, or purchase for $25.
Chairs and mats are on a first come, first served basis. We hold the honor system high and appreciate your taking care of either while in your possession and they are returned at the end of the show.
Just like music has no language, Friday Night Sound Waves has no age limit. The young and young-at-heart are all welcome and represented in our weekly audience. As a free event this is a wonderful way for families of all generations to connect and make new friends.
Friday Night Sound Waves is a fully accessible event. Fort Lauderdale Beach's sidewalk and promenade where the concerts are held are fully navigable for people in wheelchairs. At this time however there are no accessible pathways connecting the promenade to the beach for wheelchair access on the sand.
There are no public restroom facilities or port-o-lets on site. Many of the local businesses across the street are more than happy to let you use their restroom facilities.
Public restrooms are available a block and a half west at the Las Olas Parking Garage on Las Olas Circle and Birch Road as well 1 block south at Beach Place
While safety is always our foremost concern, and no one likes to get wet, you know what they say about South Florida, “If you don’t like the weather – wait 5 minutes”, and so yes, therefore we are a rain or shine event. Plus – it’s always beautiful on the beach, and we must admit, Mother Nature has been very kind to us.
If it looks gloomy by you and you’re not certain you want to make the drive over, visit our Facebook Page for updates, which we typically post around the 5 o’clock hour. Or just come on down. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to seek cover – and it’s Friday Night – you should be out!
In the event of lightning or heavy rain we will stop the music and evacuate the site. Please follow staff directions for a safe evacuation.
First, thanks for attending. If we didn’t tell you that night – we loved having you out to enjoy live music on Fort Lauderdale Beach, and hope to see you again. We want to see your smiling faces as quickly as possible too, so photos from Friday night are typically posted on Monday.
You can find them classified in albums per show on our Facebook Page, and bundled on our website via a live feed under the link Photos.  Once you find them please feel free to share, and invite your friends to join you next time by using the hashtag #MeetMeAtTheHub
Friday Night Sound Waves received major funding from the Beach Business Improvement District (BID) in order to provide this FREE Live Music series for our local residents and global visitors. Created in 2007, the BID is funded by commercial properties along A1A, with a primary focus to promote the beach as a premier destination through their official destination website, other marketing and funding special events.
We also have dozens of sponsors and partners we have to thank for jumping on the Sound Waves Bandwagon by investing in our community and efforts to bring cultural experiences to our local and visiting guests each week.
